Yes sir, Solar Powered, this from C.B. Colby's 1961 book Our Space Age Army. The caption reads " A experimental radio helmet powered with solar batteries (oblong units attached to sides of helmet) drawing energy from the sun". Looks like the shell was made exactly like a liner, you know resin and stuff. Item never adopted apparently.

it reminds me of a prop they might have used in a low budget 1960's science fiction movie like CYBORG 2087
