WWII USN (USMC?) G-2 squadron patch ID help - Disney

Hello all:

I've had this jacket for a couple decades now, but have never been able to ID the squadron patch. As you can see we have a jovial-looking Donald Duck reigning down terror on some unsuspecting Japs from his angry Wildcat (?) somewhwere in the Pacific.

Any assistance out there from those more knowledgeable than I would be much appriciated.

Thanks,

John

The character always looked closer to Woody Woodpecker than Donald to me because of the red plume on his head so I'm not sure about the Disney connection. Of course it could be neither and just a character adopted/designed by the unit. Jeffro

Jeffro:

Thanks for the info!

Maybe you're right about Woody Woodpecker, now that you mention it.

No further info about the provenance...I bought it at a show in Chicago probably in 1988.

Johnny Signor

HH Booker posted some navy insignia photos on the forum I sent him some discs of and this emblem is on that , chek with him about it, If memory serves me it's closer to a rooster with comb sticking out from a flight cap with goggles .............................
