kanemono Posted September 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 1, 2013 Here is a Japanese World War Two Army officers sword ( Shin-Gunto) with a Endo period blade. This sword has been shot and has two gashes where bullets passed through the scabbard. The bullets nicked the scabbard but did not touch the blade There is a silver family crest (Mon) on the hilt and the original officers tassel. This sword has seen a great deal of use and action during World War Two. The sword length is 40”. The sword tang has no markings but there is a beautiful silver Mon on the hilt. The sword fittings are of high quality and are of mixed metals and hand chased. This sword was sent home by a Marine from Guadalcanal. Dick

Reeder3 Posted October 22, 2013 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2013 I like the tsuka, habaki, and tassel. Is that a pierced tsuba? Can't really comment on the blade from those pictures, can only tell it's out of polish. -brandon
