The ATC coat is not correct.......the wing badge should be a standard AAF silver pilots wing not the bronze Contract Carrier ATC badge.

That ATC uniform is a keeper for sure! Any history to it?

Here's my addition to the thread. It's a British Battle Dress jacket used by an AAC Lt. I also have his matching BD pants too, plus his AAC uniforms. Not too sure on what he did as there are no other ribbons besides his ETO on this uniform. I also have one other AAC group to a 9th AF AAA unit but that will have to for another day.

I had posted this one previously for confirmation on the wings but I'll post it here as well. I picked this up a few months ago in a local antique store.

Bringing this thread back up with a sneak preview of a couple of new additions to my collection. London tailored Ike jacket with British made bullion wings and Captain's bars, named to an original "Hell's Angel" of the 358th BS, 303rd BG, 41st Wing, 1st Division, Eighth Air Force.

Not a very good picture as the light is going, but this 1938 pattern blue dress coat is dated 1940 and belonged to a fighter pilot who was at Wheeler Field during the Japanese attach on December 7, 1941. He later became the first CO of the 353rd Fighter Group, Eighth Air Force and was sadly posted missing in action over France in August 1943.

The coat appears to have been restored by a previous collector, as the collar insignia and wing are slightly later WWII period, however the sewn on shoulder boards appear original to the coat. I will post better pictures in a separate thread in the future.

Hi there,

Just thought I might add a CBI uniform... Although CBI not really being my collecting interest, still a rather uncommon bullion wing.

Regards,

Michael

One look at this uniform with the Chinese wings, and I knew I had to have it!

It has a little bit of moth nipping on it, however, I was able to identify the pilot through the label on the inside pocket.

Follow up research had led me to a half a dozen photos of him, including one taken with his flight crew in the CBI theater.

That is a beautiful jacket!

Is this a recent find or something you have owned for a while?

When you did research did you find anything on his Chinese service?

This is one nice find!
