hhbooker2 Posted April 15, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2008 Below are EMERGENCY SERVICE RATINGS used between 1942 to 1955 for enlisted specialists such as these scans below of an open diamond with the letter "A" for Athletic Instructor (1942-1944), "A" Airship Rigger (1948-1955), "B" Master-At-Arms (Shore) (1948-1954), "C" Chief Classification Interviewer (1943-1948), and "C" Classification (1942). These rates came in forestry-green, grey, khaki, navy-blue, and white backgrounds for female and male personnel, like other rates, except these had a specialty mark of an open diamond. There were rates made without an open diamond in which a letter not is use at the moment could be added, there were three letters never used and a few like "CB" Construction Battalon (SeeBees) had two letters, others with two letters were used by the United States Coast Guard such as "PR" for Parachute Rigger, Port Security, etc., and "CW" for Chemical Warfare, etc. Sarge Booker ([email protected]) email me if youid like for me to send you scans of these are other rates. I have too many pictures to show here. Thank you!
hhbooker2 Posted April 15, 2008 Author Share #2 Posted April 15, 2008 Below is a "C" for Contruction (1943-1948), probably authorized, but the other three "CB" for Construction Battalion (1942-1944) might not have been authorized?

Hi Sarge, Accourding to John A Stacey's book (U.S. NAVY RATING BADGES, SPECIALTY MARKS AND DISTINGUISHING MARKS 1885-1982) C was used for Classification 1942-1942, also Classification INTERVIEWER 1943-1948, also CHAPLAIN'S ASSISTANT 1954-1965. hhbooker2 Posted April 17, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted April 17, 2008 New Hampshire Naval State Guard is not an Emergency Service Rating, it was probably made and used between 1918 to the 1930s, perhaps? Q could be for Communications Specialist (1943), or Cryptographer (1943-1948) or Communications Security (1943).
