mvmhm Posted August 24, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 24, 2013 On the fairgrounds in Greenville, OH is the Darke County Veterans Building. It's open during the county fair, and when they show it to the JROTC cadets. Here's what they have, all from people who drop things off at the Legion or VFW or the County VSO office. Few pieces have an identifying labels, and I don't think there's much documentation as for as the provenance goes. Mark sends

mvmhm Posted August 24, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted August 24, 2013 ....he pointed out that the Japanese flag was why they had to raise their insurance - "Huh?" I ask. He aid a "professional" appraiser said that it could be worth $10K. The flag is documented, and in the upper left corner is a colalr tab and the name of the Japanese POW who gave it to the Marine...I told him I wasn't knocking the other guy, but that at most, it might fetch $300 or something in that neighborhood, but nothing near 10K...but I'm it's not going to change his mind about it - although I'd love to meet the guy who did the appraisal. Mainemilitaria Posted August 30, 2013 Share #14 Posted August 30, 2013 A worthy endeavor.....there certianly are a few select items amoung the "chard", including the US 191st Ordnance Bn. flag...As for thier appraisal of the Japanese flag (10Gs!!!!).....the entire "collection" doesn't approach that! (Unless I missed a few things!) Still, for a "donation Museum" of "today" I conguadulate them and applaud the attempt. John G.
