patches Posted May 13, 2023 #101 Posted May 13, 2023 One thinks of Domed Brass as being a late 40s-50s think, but the evidently were made and worn during WWII, maybe even in the 30s, granted they probably were rare and a purely private purchase item. Here a pair being worn in March 1944, by one Clarence Rafeld Jr. The Branch one will be Field Artillery. The Close Up, see Domed.
JohnK83882 Posted August 15, 2024 #103 Posted August 15, 2024 Here's some pics of WW2 flat faced clutches, Ballou.
Page-Hendryx Posted November 30, 2024 #105 Posted November 30, 2024 This type of collar brass I've seen described as being postwar, ca. early-50s. But is that really the case? This is on an early-mid war WWII coat which I suspect may be humped up:

However, if there is any convexity, it would be a Post-World War Two Type V Collar Disk. William K. Emerson mentions that beginning in 1951 many collar disks are manufactured with a slight convexity.

JohnK83882 Posted April 4, 2025 #112 Posted April 4, 2025 Here's pics of a type V collar disk but with the curled in edge of a Unclassified Disk Type (Type III variation) https://hglanham.tripod.com/metalinsignia/collardisk1.html
JohnK83882 Posted April 21, 2025 #113 Posted April 21, 2025 I found some Type V collar brass with copper colored inserts in the back.
JohnK83882 Posted April 21, 2025 #114 Posted April 21, 2025 The post WW2 type 5s have a slightly convex shape. I tried to take a picture showing the flat and the convex one side by side. Hope it shows up in the pic.
UnCorped Militaria Posted August 8, 2025 #115 Posted August 8, 2025 I have this one that I've yet to find a example as to the TK on the collar disk.
atb Posted August 8, 2025 #116 Posted August 8, 2025 6th Tank Battalion. Is that what you're saying? I have seen other Armor collar disks with the "TK" designation.
UnCorped Militaria Posted August 8, 2025 #117 Posted August 8, 2025 The TK - what does it stand for? Tank Killer? 😊
