Recommended Posts

Hello People,

I have one question: Are Jump wings with trade mark in reverse are WWII period or late 40's and 50's?

Regards,

Schmidt

Schmidt,

First off welcome to the forum.

Your answer is the following: Robbins used a very distinctive winged R hallmark that was raised but set within and inset cartouche or box. Also found on aviation wings. Believed to be immediate post WWII through the 50's.

To better self educate your self a quick primer can be found on a member web site

Andrew has done quite a bit of studying in this area but you will want to go through this sites relevant threads as well, because there are many fly by nights that will take your money and dash.

Hope this helps and good luck.

John

Hi Schmidt,
WWII wings and badges may have an hallmark or not; there is not a general rule for datation.
You have to study the evolution of the pattern and hallmarks for every single maker.

In general, post-WWII badges since mid 1950s have a two digit hallmark (for ex. 1B, 1V, 9M, etc). Badges since mid-1960s have a three digit hallmark (for ex. V21, M22, H24, etc),

but from WWII to mid-1950s there is not a general rule...

You have a nice set of Robbins jump wings. The Robbins Company was located in Attleboro, Massachusetts. They had an earlier hallmark that spelled out their name and location. I believe your wings were most likely made in the late WWII to early 1950s' period. Robbins marked wings are certainly uncommon and getting harder to find. You have an excellent example.
