hirsca Posted August 17, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2013 Estate sale find. Interesting history of an association of post military ECM types. Approx. 3" in diameter. Embroidered on twill, merrowed edge, does not glow. Can anyone help me date this patch? Thanks, Al.
Salvage Sailor Posted August 17, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2013 Aloha, I have to run right now, and will post some information later on the association of Old Crows, which later became the EMC society of IEEE. My father was a founder of both groups.
hirsca Posted August 17, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted August 17, 2013 Thanks Salvage Sailor. I did find their web site and read about the history of the association. Very interesting. Now--does anyone have info on the era of the patch, similar or other variations? Mahalo, Al.
John F. Posted August 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2013 Not sure if this a variations of if the Association of Mach Crow was a sub-branch of the Old Crow Assoc or if they were their own special group. This is my father membership card and pin along with an association patch for ECM's with the B-58 program. My father was with the B-58 program from cradle to grave (1960-1970) and was assigned to 43rd Bomb Wing/ 63rd Bomb Sqdn at Carswell AFB and then Little Rock AFB. hirsca Posted August 23, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted August 23, 2013 Very nice! How many crows do we need now to have a "Murder of Crows?" (How did they ever come up with that name in the first place?) Thanks, Al..
Jeff TX Posted March 22, 2014 Share #6 Posted March 22, 2014 During WWII Allied operators of the new radar surveillance technology were given the code name "Ravens". After the war students of this field changed the name to Association of Old Crows; today the AOC is a not for profit professional international association with over 13,000 members in over 180 organizations worldwide. hirsca Posted September 22, 2014 Author Share #8 Posted September 22, 2014 Here is an addendum to my original posting of the patch. From the estate of an ECM Veteran. The one pin is domed, so I had to take pictures from different angles to capture all of it. Both are clutch back. Enjoy. Thanks, Al.
