Now here is a Helmet Auction!

Case and all the helmets - One Lot auction!!

Wish I lived near Bronson MO. This would be an auction to get to! As far as the helmets go, It would be to much of a risk to bid on line without seeing them in person. Many museums are known to use reproduction helmets as displays and no telling what's mixed up in that case?? But if any of you fellow helmet geeks can make it in person, this would be one to go to!

Several look like obvious reproductions from the pics, but you never know??

Good luck.

Just my opinion but, all the painted helmets on the bottom row look to have been done by the same hand and have similar aging to them. And the outlined medic on the top right row looks like a Sutherland reproduction from years back... but again, this is just my opinion.

I was thinking the same thing! Many look to be the same artist! I would think if they were considered real, they would have had there own display in the museum?

Has anyone been to this museum, that may have an opinion?

Looks like one of the glass cases in the airborne museum at Ste Mere Eglise!

One thing that threw me though is; Why have two 69th repo helmets for display? Which made me wonder if there is a mix of good and bad in there?

I heard it from a good friend who, heard it from his best friend who, heard it from a guy who used to be a really good friend - that everyone of these helmets were found in the hayloft of a barn that was located in a field near Normandy...true dat!

Ain't that the truth? There's even bits of straw sandwiched between the shells and liners to back that claim up! ;)

you figure, even if you consider all 20 to be reproductions probably valued at $200 each, you would still be at $4000, not counting the value of the case itself, the buyers premium and shipping if not there in person.

Wow,, Sold for $9,000 plus buyers premium. I sure hope there are some real ones in there. If even two or three, unit marked ones are real, it could be a good buy! Actually I hope it was a forum member so we can get a closer look and see what was actually in there.

Has anyone been to this museum, that may have an opinion?

I have been to the museum and they tended to lump likes together. Such as the M1 Carbines, the 10th mountain stuff, ect.

The last time I was down there, it had been hit by the tornado, so it wasn't open. I am going to Branson this weekend and plan on stopping by to see what has become and is left of this museum. I will drop a SITREP when I get back.
