seanmc1114 Posted January 13, 2014 Author Share #129 Posted January 13, 2014 30th Armored Division SSI being worn over the pocket by Major General Hugh B. Mott, division commander from 1968-1969. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions as part of the 9th Engineer Battalion in the capture of the Ludendorff Bridge on March 7, 1945. Note that Gen. Mott's 30th SSI patch the "Volunteers" tab on his dress uniform but not on his fatigue uniform.
seanmc1114 Posted January 18, 2014 Author Share #130 Posted January 18, 2014 Here's a great shot I lifted from another topic on this forum: 1957 photo of the 62nd Tank Battalion CO wearing a yellow name tape with green letters and a German-made 62d Armor triangle over his left breast pocket and 10th Infantry Division SSI without the Mountain tab on his left sleeve. Great all around picture from Cold War Germany also showing branch-colored bib scarves and branch colored name tapes.
Wailuna Posted January 18, 2014 Share #131 Posted January 18, 2014 Great all around picture from Cold War Germany also showing branch-colored bib scarves and branch colored name tapes. Yes, great period detail. Here is a bit off-turf info but worth noting anyway: Brig. Gen. Harriott and the Col. next to him are both wearing 10th Division Artillery pocket patches (see below) and their nametape colors would be gold on red. patches Posted February 9, 2014 Share #133 Posted February 9, 2014 141st Tank Battalion in Germany This was the Federalized Wyoming National Guard formation, called up because of Korea and sent to Germany, though like all or most NG units, their people, right after they went on active duty were sent to other units, Korea primarily, and the units remanned with active regular types and recently trained guys. seanmc1114 Posted April 11, 2014 Author Share #139 Posted April 11, 2014 Tankers of the 49th Infantry Division at their annual training at Camp Roberts, CA - 1967. Their armored triangles appear to be unnumbered. At the time, I believe the 49th had tank battalions from both the 149th and 170th Armored Regiments. That's the 49th Infantry Division, back then the Calif NG had two Infantry Divisions, the 40th in So Cal, and the 49th up North. In the mid 50s after Korea the 40th was reorganized as an Armored Division, the 49th remained Infantry.

Yes of course, I knew really that you couldn't of blown it that bad Due to the 1967 date, the Tank unit here will be the either the 1st or 2nd Battalion 149th Armor. Another possibilty is these Troops are of the 1st Squadron 170th Cavalry, this unit was a ground reconaissance unit, just like say in example the 3rd Squadron 4th Cav, 25th Div over in Vietnam then, and would have tanks. patches Posted April 12, 2014 Share #146 Posted April 12, 2014 1950's 10th Division Tank Company Field Jacket. Very nice display of the 10th Inf Div tanker m60. This would be a jacket worn most likely by a member of the 62nd Tank Battalion, it was this Battalion, 1948-57 that was organic to the 10th Inf Div, both a Riley when it was a cadre Training Division, and in West Germany after it was finally upgraded to full combat status.
