Man that is a lot of stripes and rockers on the first 4 rows. Neat photo.

Tankpatches
I'd date this jacket to 1956/58, worn during 11th AB Division's short-lived assignment to Germany.

Wailuna, Capt.Cav. I also agree; this and other photos from this unit, were

taken at Vilseck, FRG Feb. 1958

look closer and you'll see they're wearing German made

armor triangles

Wailuna asked me to post a close up from a photo in an 11th AD album I just recieved. I also have a 3rd AD album that has several photos like this. I will have to dig it out and post a few.

Okay, Here is another scan from a 3rd AD album I own showing the patch on the chest. This photo was taken prior to the 3rd shipping overseas.

Buffalo Grunt
and the closeup...

post-622-1248396404.jpg

Hey, that's a great looking 10th Cav shirt from the Pentomic era! I recently bought some photographs on E-Bay from a veteran who served with the 1st Battle Group, 17th Infantry in the early 60's. As you can see in the pictures below, the shirts are very similar. The round disk on your patch is actually the unit designator of the 10th Cavalry at the time (All units wore in Korea during this wore these) My pictures show a buffalo over the name tag and in the Armor patch (which in my case represented the Recon Platoon) there's some embroidery (I'm assuming "17th RCT" or "17th RCN" for Recon) Someone serving in a non recon platoon would just have the buffalo above the name tag (as seen in the last photograph.)

A 17th Infantry shirt like this is now on my "Most Wanted" list ... any further information would be appreciated.

It looks like these guys were painting something in this picture as this E-6 is wearing a stained uniform with a cap without a DUI (he's squared a way in all the other pictures of him in my collection.)

This is a nice reference photograph
