1960s US Navy G1 with Japanese made Adak Alaska patches

Hello, I stumbled across this this past weekend and thought I would share it with everyone. Nicely patched Navy flight jackets are usually a little out of my price range, but this one wasn't so I couldn't refuse. Both of the patches are from the Naval Air Station at Adak, Alaska and are nice big Japanese made ones that I had not seen before. I thought it was interesting in that the Search and Rescue patch on the left side is only sewn on to the jacket on the left half of the patch. The right side-that nearest the center of the chest, is not attached. It doesn't look like it was ever sewn down and was made that way. I wonder if the patch doubled as a large chest pocket, maybe to stick papers or a pack of smokes in. Just a thought. No other insignia on it but the guy's name is sewn into the lining.

Thank you Stony. There is some scuffing on the outer right sleeve, but otherwise the jacket looks hardly worn. The interior, cuffs and waistband are almost pristine-as are the patches :)
