chris3bs Posted August 7, 2013 #1 Posted August 7, 2013 Robert Ingalls was a Lt. Col. in the 35th Army Engineer. He was assigned the task to construct the Alaskan Canadian Highway between 1942-1943. He was very meticulous in his work and in the photographic record of the work involved. Three trunk fulls were acquired this past weekend. I have photograhed some of the items which were found but so much that it is better to email them what has been photographed. Some of the items I have come across are: 2 Pair of Calvary Boots 3 Pair of Leather Leggings Swagger Stick Calvary Sword and Scabbard DSM Medal Numbered 2554 with Certificate 1934 American Legion Medal 16th Natl Convention NY WW1 Service Medal 1930 Letter describing conditions while working around the Panama Canal Brass Bookends Drafting Set and Ruler Army Jacket(Was in the trunk) AAF Cloth Chart of Eastern Asia Postcards of his European Trip in the late 1950s Picture of himself, parents and mother in a Cornell wallet Several hundred photos of the ALCAN construction scrapbooked 1942-1943 What looks to be some Panama Canal pictures in a scrapbook Correspondence written by different people on a paper roll to Mrs. Ingall 11th Combat Engineer picture dated 1927 Paper written in longhand by Lt. Col. Ingalls entitled "A Study In Personnel and Command - My Experience in Training Troops". He also lists in his paper; in order, the years he served under each rank he acquired which began in WW1. Some pages seem to be missing, torn and folds but are still very readable. Possible Camp 46 Star Flag(19x12) If interested in any of this story go to this article online: http://www.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?AD=ADA512977 I can email pictures of what has been found while going through these trunks. If anyone is interested pls PM. The scrapbook pictures are on the old scrapbook paper which has been disentegrating. Most of the pictures are captioned and typewritten. Chris
Shawn Posted November 18, 2022 #2 Posted November 18, 2022 Does anyone have any information on where this grouping may have gone to? I'm writing a biography on Colonel Ingalls and a narrative history of the regiment he commanded. Some of the documents listed in this grouping would be very helpful. Any assistance locating it would be greatly appreciated.
