Normandy1944 Posted August 1, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 1, 2013 I bought this jacket a few months ago, It's my first jacket from the 29th infantry division. When I looked inside, I found 2 laundry marks and a name that confirms one of the marks. The other mark was a mystery. I tried to found the owner by sending it to carbinephalen, but none of the results were from a 29th'er. NARA didn't Today I found the morning reports from the 29th infantry division from June 44 to May 45. I started to search for the unidentified laundry mark, and I got a hit! The first owner of this jacket is Miguel V Franco, from Pecos County in Texas. He was a private in A company of the 115th regiment. On the 16th of July he entered active duty in Europe. The 29th infantry division was fighting around St. Lo. This story has a sad ending. On July the 30th, Miguel was KIA around Tessy-sur-Vire. From here on, the story of this jacket becomes difficult to trace. The laundry mark and name confirm Reginald F Rounsfull as an owner. I asked golden arrow research for this name, but got the message that all of his records were lost in the fire. The only thing I got was a final payment sheet. I don't know where I can find his unit or overseas service time. The morning reports from the 29th don't show his name. He's also listed as private and not as a sergeant or medic. I want to end the story of this jacket. Every help is welcome, so if you've got some clues or information for me, please let me know.

Kevin Killion Posted 18 hours ago Share #4 Posted 18 hours ago Here is a group photo including Reginald F Rounsfull: https://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth743224/ "Photograph of a group of soldiers posing together outside of McCloskey General Hospital in Temple, Texas. The soldiers are identified as ... ... Cpl. Reginald F. Rounsfull of Golf, Illinois ... ..." Golf, Illinois is a tiny north suburb of Chicago, next to Glenview, not far from where I live.
