Brig Posted July 30, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 30, 2013 Great pair that brought 412 on eBay...missing posts or pins, and been filed down perhaps for a plaque. Note the unique tabs used to hold the continents to the globe. Nice birds, I was runner up...but wasn't going to break the bank on emblems missing posts. I'm guessing late 30s/40s by the machine fret work on the globe

teufelhunde.ret Posted July 30, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 30, 2013 What a shame! Officer emblems from Gaunt, IMHO, fall into the category of rare, so seldom seen. I tend to think these actually date a decade or more earlier...
normaninvasion Posted July 30, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 30, 2013 That offering was tough. Spend some coin on a matching busted example or wait a 1000 yrs for a better pair? I was thinking maybe 1920s-early 30s as era? Always gladto see interesting stuff unleashed. jeff
Brig Posted July 30, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted July 30, 2013 I'd go with late 20s/early 30s...appears to be machined fret work
normaninvasion Posted August 10, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 10, 2013 Forgot to ask: Any idea whether this example was screwback or pin?
Terry K. Posted August 10, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 10, 2013 Sure look like screw back to me. Very nice, by the way.
Brig Posted August 11, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted August 11, 2013 looks like it could have been either, I see signs of sanding where a pin would have been, but the center is obviously set up for a post
