Junior Commandos. There were a bunch of groups within the US that used this term but these patches on canvas can be attributed to at least a local group or chapter of a larger one to Pittsburgh, PA.

It appears that Red was for Officers and Blue for enlisted ranks.

Here is a new Pratt & Whitney factory patch. This came from the daughter of the worker during WWII.

There are two variations of this one. Large (back of overalls) and medium. Pictured is the medium one.

Kanawha Flying School, West Virgina. I lived right across the WV State Capitol for a year so I am excited to have this patch in my collection!

It was a Sea Plane school on the Kanawha River. According to Mark Hess, the “Kanawha Seaplane Base... was called Charleston #2 Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol during WWII. Clark ran this operation. It was also a Civilian Pilot Training Program base.”

54,600+ views! Somehow there were 8,000 new views in the past 1.5 months! Humbled that this is the 2nd most popular thread on the Home Front area.

We just moved so I will be posting lots of patches that I have not included in the past few years. Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have home front patches not listed here as I would be interested in purchasing them.

Oklahoma City Air Depot Aero patch. There is a whole series of these from the AD of at least 5-7 different branches....inspection, aero, instruments, etc... All pose the same shape but different colors and symbols.

Frye Aircraft Company (25th and Farnam Street Omaha, Nebraska)

You usually see the large overall patch with their company name inside of a large heart. This is the seldom seen one.

Jack Frye, one of the founders of TWA, received the Medal of Merit for wartime contributions as a civilian in December 1946

The following 9 patches are felt and vinyl. Hard ones to find for sure. I've had them for about 3-4 years but never posted them.

Cheers to 58,000 views!
