There were a bunch of groups within the US that used this term but these patches on canvas can be attributed to at least a local group or chapter of a larger one to Pittsburgh, PA. According to Mark Hess, the “Kanawha Seaplane Base... was called Charleston #2 Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol during WWII. Clark ran this operation. There is a whole series of these from the AD of at least 5-7 different branches....inspection, aero, instruments, etc... This is the seldom seen one.
