Camp Roberts California mirror patch

post-122868-0-68595900-1448927118.jpg

Camp Roberts is a California National Guard post in central California, located on both sides of the Salinas River in Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties,[1] now run by the California Army National Guard. It is named after Harold W. Roberts, a World War I Medal of Honor recipient.[1] Nearby communities include San Miguel, Heritage Ranch (Lake Nacimiento), Oak Shores (Lake Nacimiento), and Bradley, all unincorporated. The nearest incorporated city is Paso Robles. Camp Roberts is adjacent to Fort Hunter Liggett.

Camp Roberts is host to annual training to almost every California Army National Guard unit and it is also used by the British Army.

Camp Roberts is undergoing major renovations, including demolition of World War II-era barracks, which have been plagued with mice, asbestos insulation, and lead paint. Demolition of nearly all the World War II-era structures facing US Route 101 began in 2012.[2]

General Motors Allison Division for Aircraft Power

In 1928, the Allison Engineering Company lost its founder, Jim Allison, and the company was put up for sale. General Motors purchased the company for $592,000 in 1929. With the purchase, Allison Engineering Company became part of the GM family, and was renamed Allison Division of General Motors in 1934. It produced the famed Liberty aircraft engine during World War I and turned out more than 70,000 engines for U.S. fighter planes during World War II.

Times Air Cadet wings patch

Chicago Times Air Cadet patch. I believe newspapers put out info on how to be pilots in the mid 1930s through the 1940s. You could subscribe to receive small booklets that told you about being a pilot, basic info on flight and aviation.
