HistoryNut Posted July 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2013 I just purchased a fantastic grouping named to a WWI 104th Infantry Regiment veteran. His Type 1a Purple Heart is numbered 560 and the Silver Star is numbered 1778...both by far the lowest numbers I have owned or seen in person. I was wondering if others would be willing to share their lowest numbered medals in their collection.

USMCR79 Posted July 28, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 28, 2013 Interesting that they did not follow a logical span of numbers - I have a pair to a soldier from the 102nd FA - Type 1 PH # 4407 with Silver Star # 407 both medals were issued at the same time according to the award card - however there are two distinct engraving styles. dhcoleterracina Posted July 28, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 28, 2013 My Dockum Purple Heart [posted here somewhere] is numbered 244. I was doubly fortunate that it also turned out to be a MSCC.
