BEAST Posted July 21, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2013 Many years ago, I used to attend the OVMS show at the Drawbridge Inn. At that time there was a dealer who had also served as a crewman on (IIRC) a B-26 during WWII. One of the things that he told us about was crewmen ordering their A-2s through catalogs such as Sears, etc. The leather A-2 was a classic and when the Army Air Force changed to the B-10, some chose to continue to wear the A-2. I bought this jacket off of eBay several years back and thought I would post it as an example of one that was worn over there. It was worn by a late war replacement to the 534th Bomb Squadron, 381st Bomb Group. You can still see the stitch marks of his patch on the left side of the chest. For better details on how this patch became identified, go to http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/13972-trying-to-id-patch-outline-on-an-a-2/?hl=kennelly&do=findComment&comment=93753.
