garanddaddy Posted July 14, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 14, 2013 Got some AP Ammo today. Can anyone tell me if the head stamp has the date of manufacture, they are SC 4, SL 4, LC
hirsca Posted July 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 14, 2013 All were manufactured in 1944. Corrosive primers, so if you shoot them, clean your gun thoroughly. Al.

kfields Posted July 14, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 14, 2013 nice find! On a side note, I purchased 40 rounds of AP last year at a garage sale for little money, maybe $5. as I recall. My son and I took them with us to my dad's farm last week with the idea of experimenting if they really did go through quarter-inch steel. We found an old plow share in one of the buildings (don't tell my dad!) and laid it out about 85 yards from our firing position. We loaded up the Winchester Model 1917 and fired 20 rounds. I'm here to tell you that those rounds put holes in the plow share as if it were paper! We ended up burying the evidence so my dad wouldn't find out what we did to one of his implements! Great fun!
