All,

I just thought I would post this because I enjoyed many of his movies but he was a veteran of WW2. I understand that he served in the 11th Air Force as a radio op\gunner on a B-25 in the Aleutian Islands.

When Charlton Heston's father-in-law(L.B. Clarke) was still alive, Mr. Heston and his wife Lydia would come to her home town of Two Rivers, Wisconsin(My home town also) and regularly meander about in public. This was all when I was a kid but, I remember it well. He will be missed.

I remember reading in his autobiography that during WWII he hated being in Alaska.....mosquitos etc.

Years later he narrated an Imax theatre presentation on the natural beauty of Alaska......go figure!

A great Actor and a great American
