jmpmstr Posted June 30, 2013 Share #5 Posted June 30, 2013 When you watch the construction of the medals after striking, it truly is a custom made medal for each recipient...
johnnyrocket Posted June 30, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 30, 2013 I wonder if they still do the hands on craftsmanship as they did in the day? Speaking of how the military does things (not to change the subject) but a few days ago I saw a movie that not many know about on what goes into how the government processes the body of a fallen soldier from the war (present conflicts, i.e. Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran) The movie is called "Taking Chance" don't let the title fool you. This is a fantastic movie, that every American should see. It stars Kevin Bacon and is not a documentary...but an emotional insight into a process very few know about or ever get to see. I will not go into details, but if you choose to see this movie you will not be disappointed. Just like the process that military medals are manufactured—our fallen heros are shown the upmost respect and gratitude from a grateful nation from its military and patriotic citizens. Johnny R. SEABEEBRIAN Posted July 1, 2013 Share #10 Posted July 1, 2013 Wouldn't it be nice if there was as much quality now? I am constantly disappointed when I see modern medals.
johnnyrocket Posted July 1, 2013 Share #11 Posted July 1, 2013 I think they are still made in America. I hope! Johnny R.
