Bocage Posted July 1, 2013 Share #26 Posted July 1, 2013 @ Ski: thanks for ur reply. @ WWPatches: I agree. Most important thing: we love'em all those (101st) patches and in a way for me it was very liberating, collecting stuff of which it was not always possible to tell exactly when it was made... Better having a genuine 101st patch dating 1945-1965/8 than having a fake german item that's date '43, but made '68 ;-) imo at least. Again a nice thread on the forum. Cheers all! patches Posted July 1, 2013 Share #27 Posted July 1, 2013 No way you can't either. Beatin a dead horse here. More were made in the 60's than the 50's so why not say 60's. It's a no-glow cut edge 101st patch that will look good in any collection tagged WW2 to 60's. This raises a very good question WWP, we know that the 101st was a non airborn non combat training division from the late 40s till the mid 50s, like 1956, so would attached tabbed 101 even of of been made in that period? since the airborne tabs were not worn over the screaming eagle patch. One way to tell patches from the 1960's (pre-merrowed) from 1950's patches is the matching twill backing material. My first 101st patch I got when I was ten was a type 10 with a matching black twill backing. I can pretty much guarantee you that it was made in the early 1960's by comparing it to other patches that came in 1960's dated boxes. They also had matching twill colors. -Ski
