anton67 Posted June 23, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2013 Hello, I picked up this mag pouch with mags. I would like to know whether the pouch is authentic WWII era and whether the mags are too. Please help. Thank you

gap Posted June 23, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 23, 2013 The pouch appears to be genuine WW2. Are there any markings on the top of the toe of the magazines? Are they welded or pinned base?
anton67 Posted June 23, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted June 23, 2013 There are no marks on the toes of the mags. How can you tell welded or pinned?
gap Posted June 23, 2013 Share #8 Posted June 23, 2013 If the mag is pinned, it could be an early WW2 Colt magazine. If it is welded and unmarked, it is not WW2 issue. Look for weld marks in the area where the tube and floorplate meet, In the alternative, take out the follower and spring and look into the tube. You will see two tunnels where the rivet runs through the magazine if it is pinned.
