larrystonebooks.com Posted June 23, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2013 Yesterday's estate sale find- Union Army Forage Cap. The moths have feasted on it for the last 150 years, but they left enough to appreciate the piece. The chin strap and buttons are in good shape, they need to be tacked back on. There is evidence of sewn on insignia on the front of the cap but it was nowhere to be found. Other than a few swords Civil War items rarely turn up in San Diego, I was happy to get it. KurtA Posted June 24, 2013 Share #17 Posted June 24, 2013 Forgot to add pic of chinstrap- nice shape, with buckle and both buttons. That makes a HUGE difference in the value of the cap, as being complete with that impossible-to-find chin strap makes it far more desirable. Are the buttons the standard Federal EM eagle style? USCapturephotos Posted December 2, 2013 Share #22 Posted December 2, 2013 I am totally jealous! Always wanted to find one. Looks like there was one standard eagle and the other an eagle I? Paul
