Hub of the Marne Division patch

The patch is as marked on the back. You are looking at the late 1950's/ early 1960's.

In addition, it was a pocket patch worn during the Pentomic era, thus the pentagon.

Ski is right. To be more specific, it is POST Korean War era. The Pentomic "era" would be 1957 to 1963.

I wondered what the pentagram stood for. At first I thought it was because the 3rd ID was part of the 5th Corps in the late 50s, but it's not exactly like the 5th Corps insignia.
