patches Posted June 16, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 16, 2013 A most self explanatory caption for this bulletin in the What's New section of the April 1978 issue of Soldiers Magazine.
tomcatter Posted June 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2013 Interesting! Do you know when this badge has been first issued exactly (early 1960s I suppose)?
atb Posted June 16, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 16, 2013 Interesting! Do you know when this badge has been first issued exactly (early 1960s I suppose)? No, from the US Army Institute of Heraldry website- The Air Assault Badge was approved by the Chief of Staff, Army, on 18 January 1978, for Army-wide wear by individuals who successfully completed Air Assault training after 1 April 1974. The badge had previously been approved as the Airmobile Badge authorized for local wear by the Commander of the 101st Airborne Division, effective 1 April 1974.
