jmd62 Posted December 12, 2023 #928 Posted December 12, 2023 I especially like how they filmed on location, including some great footage in Munich.
jmd62 Posted December 12, 2023 #929 Posted December 12, 2023 In the latter part of the movie, there's a shot where our main character, Corporal Karl Maurer, is on the run and in the background is the Haus der Deutschen Kunst there in Munich. I think in the movie they mentioned Mannheim, but it's definitely in Munich. The first is the shot and the 2nd, a photo my Dad took on April 30, 1945 as he was passing it.

Marshallj Posted December 12, 2023 #932 Posted December 12, 2023 He is a lot of movies. Which one is this?
jmd62 Posted December 13, 2023 #933 Posted December 13, 2023 Dang, not sure. I remember him from "The Longest Day" I think, but with darker hair?

manayunkman Posted December 13, 2023 #936 Posted December 13, 2023 They aren’t leather medic pouches. They are way too thin.
HistoricalConFLIX Posted December 13, 2023 #937 Posted December 13, 2023 Correct! They are substituting German pre-WW1 (Mod.1887 ammo pouches), for Sanitäts or Krankentrager (Medic) pouches. Here is a photo of one of those ammo pouches next to a Sani Pouch.

I was wondering what those pouches were. I collected German medical kits at one time.

Interesting flick "The Counterfeit traitor'' with William Holden Priess was also in ''Hannibal Brooks'' bizarre POW escape film about an elephant and its handler, Oliver Reed, with Michael J. Pollard (Bonny and Clyde). In between Reed and Preiss is a real life Ritterkreuzetrager (Knights Cross awardee) of the Luftwaffe who became an actor- Til Kiwe who you have seen in many movies like ''The Great Escape'', ''One, Two, Three'', etc. Oh by the way the Wehrmacht soldier to their right is Peter Carsten

Marshallj Posted December 13, 2023 #942 Posted December 13, 2023 Well done with Counterfeit Traitor. It’s a good film that most younger folks have never heard of.
6th.MG.BN Posted December 13, 2023 #944 Posted December 13, 2023 I don't know if this one has ever been posted? Kinda a war film. Ken

Marshallj Posted December 24, 2023 #947 Posted December 24, 2023 Although this film was not a war film WW2 was an integral part of this movie. This naval officer won the MOH in this film.
MinutemanEMTer Posted December 24, 2023 #948 Posted December 24, 2023 It's a Wonderful Life. That's George Bailey's brother home on leave.
BILL THE PATCH Posted December 26, 2023 #950 Posted December 26, 2023 Looks like a scene from the TV show 12 o:clock high, or maybe the gallant men?
