ChopperGunner92 Posted June 13, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 13, 2013 Is this a WWI Field Phone? The only markings I could find is "Automatic Electric Company Chicago USA", there is also a tag that says "Monophone" and it lists the patents. I would really appreciate any help. RustyCanteen Posted June 14, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 14, 2013 No, that is not a WWI issue phone. I believe it was a commercially sold model from the 1930s-1940s. It was probably marketed to companies needing a field phone type application that could be moved without running permanent lines. The best way to find out more would be to run a web search on the "Monophone" series from "Automatic Electric Company", without a model number it would probably take some looking before you found it. kies99 Posted June 21, 2013 Share #7 Posted June 21, 2013 You can also search Google Patents using the numbers on the label in post #4. Use the largest first and if filed after 1945, you can definitely rule it out. Looking at 2149628 from your label, that part was awarded the patent on March 7, 1939.
