Cobrahistorian Posted June 10, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 10, 2013 Hey all,Got this today from a good buddy of mine. It's an original Navy-marked Mk23 lead computing gunsight, same as the USAAF's K-14. Pretty psyched. J

JDK Posted June 11, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 11, 2013 Very cool piece! I've always wanted a AAF K-14 for display. JD
Cobrahistorian Posted June 11, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted June 11, 2013 Very cool piece! I've always wanted a AAF K-14 for display. JD I've wanted one of these for a while now. Now to find an empty P-47D-40-RA instrument panel to start filling to go along with it! Jon
Johnny Signor Posted June 11, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 11, 2013 Ever thought of having a panel "Copy" made at a metal shop ??????????????? Just a thought ..................... Johnny
Cobrahistorian Posted June 11, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted June 11, 2013 Believe me, I have! I'd rather try and find an original, but barring that, our shop has the capacity to make a new one. In fact, I made the "glass" on the sight in about ten minutes there today!
Johnny Signor Posted June 11, 2013 Share #8 Posted June 11, 2013 Very cool , good luck on the original ,you never know now days what can pop up out of a surplus shop, flea market etc ................................
JDK Posted June 11, 2013 Share #9 Posted June 11, 2013 Not sure if you had seen it, but there was a original 47 panel sold through a auction house a little over a year ago for a very nice price. A 47 windscreen was also in the same auction. I have bought and sold a couple panels. If I ever see a original 47 at some point, I will drop you a line. I personally have my heart set on a original 38 panel. JD
Cobrahistorian Posted June 11, 2013 Author Share #10 Posted June 11, 2013 JD, Likewise, if I find an original -38 panel, I'll let you know. I was looking at a few warbird parts suppliers online last night and there are a few places that have parts, but no panels. Heck, I'd even trade my 57th PG P-40C data plate for an original panel!
