Texxut Posted October 22, 2013 Share #76 Posted October 22, 2013 Great looking A2...very sharp collar points! Is it a Dubow by any chance? Saberjet, I don't know, I don't have the jacket i my position, so I can't check the tag. Wish I did. He was gonna give it to me, but when he died, we decided his blood grandson should have it to keep it in his family. To all, Thanks for the good comments. cmt04444 Posted October 24, 2013 Share #77 Posted October 24, 2013 Those jackets with the bombs on them are awesome. There was one on an episode of pawn stars that I saw the other night. It had 29 bombs on it including one for D-day. How rare is it to see them with more than 25? Im curious as too how many airmen would still want to fly after 25 missions. Garandomatic Posted October 24, 2013 Share #78 Posted October 24, 2013 Later in the war they extended the missions required.

Texxut Posted October 25, 2013 Share #80 Posted October 25, 2013 The man that wore the Jacket I posted, flew 79 combat missions in and around the Philippines, mostly low altitude.
pchepurko Posted October 26, 2013 Share #81 Posted October 26, 2013 Here is a pic of my uncle's jacket. When I first saw it I asked him why he painted milk bottles for mission rather than bombs and he said "I figured every mission I came back from was a milk run." He add that the bottle for the mission that he was wounded on has acrack in it.

Stony Posted October 30, 2013 Share #83 Posted October 30, 2013 I had a chance to buy "Hells Henchmen" (#77) a few years ago, but passed it up for another painted A-2. It was a size 44 and the cuffs were missing. The artwork on the back was faded, but the letters were all there and still nicely visible.
Johnny Signor Posted November 5, 2013 Share #84 Posted November 5, 2013 Here is a pic of my uncle's jacket. When I first saw it I asked him why he painted milk bottles for mission rather than bombs and he said "I figured every mission I came back from was a milk run." He add that the bottle for the mission that he was wounded on has acrack in it. Is the art on the front of the jacket "Lucky Raider" nose art of his aircraft or a "squadron" emblem ?????? That's great looking art , wish there was a better frontal view of this art !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Johnny
