My father was present when Kenneth Lauderdale was killed during a recon off of Leyte 19 Oct. 1944. Members of UDT-9 were were in four LCPR's. The one with Lauderdale was hit with a mortar shell. My dad said he saw the green would fly into the air. My Dad"s boat, along with another, came to pick up the wounded. Lauderdale was laying on the bottom of the boat with a fatal chest wound. Everyone else was wounded, three seriosly. UDT-9 took more casualtys in January when APD-34 (USS Belknap) was hit by a Kamakazi during the Luzon operation. My father is deceased but I still have his bronze star with a combat V and his purple heart.

Any possibilities of posting your father's medals?

Hello. Do you know where I can find Kenneth Lauderdale's purple heart metal. I am his grand daughter and would very much like to get it.

I missed this the first time around! I remember wishing the PH was with the BSM as it would have made a great addition to my book. Now they are both there. Fantastic!
