hc8604 Posted March 27, 2023 Share #26 Posted March 27, 2023 中華民國國防部製贈 is Republic of China, Ministry of Defense, gifted. Mainland period medals and a few very early Taiwan medals had names of the manufacturer stamped or engraved in the medal die in very small font. Not all had markings though. The 1970s-80s issue came in three different boxes. I believe the foil covered paper box was the first issue. I am not sure what came next, but the other two are a thin rectangular plastic box and a nice grey colored display medal box. All three have a small sticker placed that showed the serial number of the medal. I don't know if records can be obtained of who were awarded the medals, but it seems that a note was written and addressed by the Ambassador of China (up to 1979) to each of those requesting a medal. Thanks for that, it took a second to remember Chinese is written right to left and this is printed on the back but in the opposite direction :)
