Mtlh2010 Posted June 4, 2013 Share #1 Posted June 4, 2013 What do you all think? This is on eBay now ( seller Bradw002). My gut reaction is this is a repro. The stitching on the reverse seems off to me. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PRE-WW2-USMC-MARINE-GUNNERY-SGT-CHEVRON-SINGLE-/121119786291?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c334d4533 Bid is already up to $
Alec Posted June 4, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 4, 2013 These are the repo ones NCHS is selling on EBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/b2049s-USMC-Chevron-1894-1920s-WW-I-Gunnery-Sergeant-Rank-winter-single-/380651422140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58a097c1bc
Lee Ragan Posted June 4, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 4, 2013 I agree that these are repros. The workmanship is just too sloppy, even tho you will find Army chevrons from the WWI period that look really crappy too. Which was usually a case of poor quality control on the part of the manufacturer. This GySgt just looks too new to be the real McCoy.
Mtlh2010 Posted June 5, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted June 5, 2013 I compared these to the clearly-marked Repros by nchs on eBay. the reverse backing of the bursting bomb is different, no white material on these....
