GREETINGS & SALUTATIONS! When I served with the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infrantry Division at Camp Casey, Korea in 1960, while at the P.X., saw in the showcase painted brass chevrons purchased by enlisted personnel, presumably for wear on their General Matthew B. Ridgeway caps or M-1 helmet liners? As I recall they srewed on, but maybe have also been pin back with large safety pins for all I remember? Found this scan showing all of the then ranks except Command Sergeant Major, Specialist 9 and Specialist 8. Maybe before PFC got an arc below the sing;e chevron? I recall that the KATUSA (Koreans Attached to the U.S.Army" wore a thin stamped insignia attached to their pocket flap, over the left pocket. If you wondered where they acquired the brass, rumour was it was expended brass 90mm shells? Do0es anyone have anything to add here, hopefully, yes? Sarge (Herbert Booker of Florida)
