American Graffiti Posted May 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 26, 2013 Just wondered if anyone can confirm if this is an authentic ARVN Captains rank? It is once piece brass construction, crisp details, and only two prongs at the rear, compared to an obvious fake that is made up of three separate blossoms welded together, having three rear prongs. It is also smaller than most fakes. Here's the one I'd like authenticated Along side the current fake Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers AG

American Graffiti Posted May 26, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted May 26, 2013 Hi Bob, They are small, but finely cast and quite thick and heavy brass compared to the lower very crude set. Anyway they look good on a jungle jkt so not too bothered if turn out to be phoney. Plastic grips on back prongs. AG

Andrei Posted May 30, 2013 Share #5 Posted May 30, 2013 How are these related to U.S. militaria ? Worn by SF and MACV advisors. Advisors of the Marines and USAF had the VNMC and VNAF ranks.
American Graffiti Posted May 30, 2013 Author Share #6 Posted May 30, 2013 Worn by US personnel in Vietnam, Andrei said it.
vintageproductions Posted May 30, 2013 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2013 Heavily worn by US advisors. I would say the better there are made, the better the chance of them being right. The newer copies look good but the construction isn't very strong.
