Guest TAVG Posted May 26, 2013 #1 Posted May 26, 2013 hello! about a year ago i traded some cheap baseball cards for a lot of about 80 postcards, some money and some photos mostly ranging from WW1 and WW2. the guy said he won them in texas at an auction and had to intrest in them....me being a historic preservation major (currently in college) i swooped down and snatched them up. on most of the post cards there is correspondence from a William Raymond Bingham from missouri and iowa to his mother and girlfriend. from what i found he served from 1918 to 1919 in france and germany. he was int he 463rd aerosqaudron...and i cant find any info on them. here are jsut some photos ill leave the link to my photobucket with the rest of the photos and such. (on back "the 463rd at work , cobling germany") ("work on xmas 1918") possibly in colombey les belles, france on the side of the mountaint hat the degaul statue is at now i have no idea whats in this photo thanks! .
gauthieb3sxz Posted June 6, 2013 #3 Posted June 6, 2013 I have a few photos from the unit as well. I believe Mr. Bingham was the censor and the stamp you're seeing is his censor stamp. Do you have any additional shots of the reverse? I actually have a shot with the same stamp.
Btn88 Posted February 7, 2025 #4 Posted February 7, 2025 Hello TAVG You mentionned a Colombey viilage related to General de gaulle ; the village you are thinking about is Colombey-les-deux-Eglises (where General de Gaulle owned a house, retired and is buried), but this village is not related at all with AEF air servcie. The Colombey village you are talking about is Colombey-les-Belles, where the 1st Air Depot and Colombey airdrome were located from 1917 until 1919. Best regards
