Carbine followed me home

I went to a local gun show this morning with the intention of only browsing but I ran across a nice six digit 1943 Inland M1 carbine that seemed to be begging for a new home so how could I refuse. Nice shiny barrel with a 7-43 date that corresponds to the serial number 66051x with an Inland marked stock. Nice olive finish to the receiver too.OI in both sling well and hand guard with a mix of parts like a W marked Winchester bolt, WS marked hammer, and recoil plate. Can't read any markings on the trigger housing and haven't checked trigger or sear yet and the rear sight is SA for Springfield. Faint but visible cartouch on the but and a .U. rebuild mark on the other side.

I like the look of that one, Nice age to it .....

That's one reason I had to get it home. Nice "been there" look to it.

Same kind my father used to have. I can still smell that wonderful oil/metal scent of it....
