Interesting WW2 M1 carbine picture: adjustable rear sight

I have what I believe to be an original receiver/barrel combination, with the updates on an Underwood. The front sight has the Underwood mark.

Any info on Underwood concerning earliest rear sight and bayo lug date? I would like to know if it was issued like that or was refurbed.

According to Canfield, Underwood did not produce carbines with the adjustable rear sight, nor did it ever use barrel bands with the bayo lug.

So your carbine sounds like a refurb.

Thanks, sounds like Canfield's book might the most informative. I have an older edition of the book by Riesch and have learned a lot from it.
