Hello Jim,

Do you got a picture of PFC R. Haldeman himself that I may use for the website www.36air-ad.com in the Roll of Honor?

Thanks in advanced,

Jan

Collector .45

Thought I would bring this back up to the top. Here is a group I recently picked up via eBay directly from a relative. All beautifully engraved and in their original boxes. He served with the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment of the 3rd Armored Division. He was KIA in late April of 1945.

Captainofthe7th

Hey Jim, I've been wanted to post in this thread for awhile and finally have some Purple Hearts to share.

First is a pair to Captain Donald F. Masters (many thanks to Jon Shepherd for working this one out with me). He was with B Company, 740th Tank Battalion in World War II, first as maintenance officer and then as the company commander. He actually started his service in 1931 with the California National Guard and worked up to Master Sergeant in the 185th Infantry by 1943. I don't know much about the 740th yet, but I picked up Into the Breach by Paul L. Pearson and can't wait to read.

Since he was a California reservist, he went to Japan then Korea with the 40th Division when they were called up. Most of his time was as XO for B Company, 140th Tank Battalion during which time he was wounded and decorated. I'll let the photos do the rest of the talking. I really don't know too much about his service yet, but the group is incredible. I have many smaller photos from WWII and Korea and can't wait to post to my website. For now, here's some of the best of the bunch.

The painting should tell of his character.

The next Heart I have is attributed to Captain Floyd Chester Hines, also another long serving officer, beginning in 1923 making a career of the artillery. He did serve in the States during WWII with the 606th Tank Destroyer Battalion, and his Korean service was with an armored unit as well, so I think this one counts for the thread. Again, I haven't researched Hines very well, but the group includes a lot of paperwork. The medal is not named, typical of those to WIA soldiers, but the rest of the paper is there. The two photos I have are from the 1950 Ft Sill yearbook and one from Don Mattingly's collection on the 92d AFA website. There is some literature on Hines detailing some of his time in Korea. I think he worked as liaison with some ROK units. He was wounded in April 1951 when he was shot in the chest.
