pump 150 Posted May 17, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 17, 2013 Been collecting helmet covers for years now from all era's and am well aware they are all faked. Here are a few that have issues compared to what's generally seen, but they all have some sort of merit to them. I've had all of these since about 2005 when these patterns had just come out. Looking to see if anyone has any more info on these or best guess, all comments, opinions welcome. #1 These sewn in tags are generally seen as fake, but I also know that it is illegal for private vendors to add IR glint tape to repro covers. Note MICH/ACH name and Universal III comment. Construction is same as normal Gov. issue and NSN is correct. Noticed the same type tag on Multicam covers with glint tape when they first appeared. Cage code currently is for LB technologies, a tac gear manufacturer.
pump 150 Posted May 17, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted May 17, 2013 #2 Another UCP cover, however this one is made from much lighter weight rip-stop. Ink stamp with no company name, contract number and correct NSN added later. This would really appear fake except it does have the correct Velcro tabs as well as IR glint tape and covers. pump 150 Posted May 17, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted May 17, 2013 #3 Here is a reversible MARPAT. This one is made just like the Army style. Tag same as #1 with same construction as the normal USMC covers. Has EGA in pattern (but so do fakes). Same type tabs as early MSA models. This NSN was used, but shows being deleted in July of 2005. pump 150 Posted May 17, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted May 17, 2013 #4 Last one. PASGT/LWH reversible MARPAT cover. This was out at the same time as the first American Power Source issue covers in 2003 time frame. NSN is off for size (should be xs/s) and tough to find American Textile listed. Seen posts where some say these are fake, but thought I'd throw it in if anyone has anymore info. Thanks for looking
