Other possibilities. That version does not resemble any other 1st Division worn regimental patches I have seen so far.

Redesignated 1 August 1957 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battle Group, 8th Infantry, assigned to the 8th Infantry Division, and activated in Germany (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated)

Relieved 1 January 1959 from assignment to the 8th Infantry Division and assigned to the 1st Infantry Division

Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 1963 as the 2d Battalion, 8th Infantry; concurrently relieved from assignment to the 1st Infantry Division and assigned to the 4th Infantry Division

Inactivated 13 September 1972 at Fort Carson, Colorado

As per Post # 55 and this above Reply.

Yes it was worn, this 8th Infantry PP, just got their 1963 Yearbook, the tail end of the Big Red One's PENTOMIC line up just before the big ROAD restructure.

Will be dong a lot of scanning in the immediate future LOL

And this one, on the pocket and on a brassard. We suspect it is trimmed to the quick before being sewn to this brassard as it lacks the Square OD backing. The brassard, is it CQ? Charge of Quarters?

Cobra 6 Actual

Sure does look like the “CQ” for “Charge of Quarters”, patches. And just a bit of a rocker from Sergeant’s stripes peeking out of the bottom of the brassard. Thanks for posting!

An M51 Field Jacket sighting of a GI of the 2d Battle Group, 12th Infantry, a 2nd Lieutenant Wright, he doesn't show in the 1963 yearbook, so apparently seved earlier, 2nd Battle Group 12th Infantry first assigned to the Big Red One  24 March 1959 ,
