Combat was the ghost of Jeb Stuart following that little M5 around. Plenty of covers showing this including the ones starting this thread. When the Tennessee 278th ACR deployed to secure the border between Iraq and Iran during OIF and while in country the commanding officers took this picture. Besides the excellent trigger discipline in this photo you'll notice the ghost of a cavalry soldier watching over them. The picture always reminded me of a throwback to those old G.I. Combat covers. Gators on two of the GIs? Great pic...

Lots of 70s comics had a supernatural vibe and war wasn't immune from getting that treatment. Here are a couple of mine Weird War No 14 June 1973 in well read well traveled condition as we went from duty station to duty station between America and Germany Weird War No 44 February 1976 All those old DC horror comics were my favorites.
ejstuczko Posted September 26, 2022 #31 Posted September 26, 2022 As a 1960s kid Haunted Tank, Flash, Batman and Archie comics were my favorites. Traded them like baseball cards, or played marbles to win issues. Good times! PS my German buddies loved these as well, learned to read REAL English...

patches Posted March 18, 2023 Author #33 Posted March 18, 2023 Just now, patches said: Welp some clever Modeler made a DIO of the Haunted Tank, cool right, The Modeler Martin King North Stonington, Connecticut “The Ghostly Warning” is what Martin calls his diorama. He writes: “It’s modeled after a comic book from my youth, G.I. Combat, featuring “The Haunted Tank,” commanded by Jeb Stuart, the great grandson of the Confederate cavalry commander Gen. J.E.B. Stuart. The Ghost of the General would appear to warn his namesake of dangers on the battlefield.” Martin combined two 1/35 scale buildings from MiniArt with a Tamiya M3 Stuart light tank. The horse and figure are a 120mm resin kit from Verlinden. Martin says experimentation led him to use fake snow for the mist around the ghost.
M422A1 Posted March 18, 2023 #34 Posted March 18, 2023 I read all these comics back in the 60’s and early 70’s. And I still have them packed away in the basement somewhere. When I get a chance, I’ll dig them out and post some pictures.
