The records go from 1920 (WW1 recipients) to 1984. Numbers 1 through 24013 with some odd numbered later awards.

The only drawback is that you can't search by name - I guess that feature was not considered important

I believe if you contact Steve Watts (OMSA), he is selling a bunch of books on these New York medals and volume 2 has the recipient information.

I have volume II and these is not a "look up cross by name" index - volume II is set up like volume I - If you have a medal number - you can find the name but not vice versa.

Not necessarily. It is probably not a WW1 guy but could easily be a WW2 vet that just applied later in his life.

Shawn - I can only look up WWI & WWII Crosses

 

If it is chrome plated than it is a later cross

Thank you for your reply (above) and most helpful information in this string of 9 December. Initially, I had a little trouble navigating the site but eventually found it. The research into the individuals Service has begun.

 

At the risk of taking the bucket to the well too often, I actually have a third NY CSC in my care - Number 2594. If I could impose on you once more, I would be most obliged for an identification. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the WW1 Service medal 32004 isn't listed in the rolls.

And the same can be said for the WW1 State Service (Faithful Service) 2605...not listed.

Thanks I see that the spell check said “ Kandahar” which I don’t know where that came from. The 2605 serial# medal is the medal with the soldier at present arms with the multi color red, black, yellow ribbon. I was hoping to trace it since it’s a low number. I just wanted to clarify
