rmoore456 Posted April 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2013 Picked up this piece of marble, 8 X 10 X 3/4 inch, at an estate sale today. It has an M10 tank destroyer etched on it. In the upper left is a 5th Army patch and the upper right the Tank Destroyer patch. The front of the TD has 894 T.D. BN. Co. C and the side has Eleanor. Below everything is the veterans name. Jack's Son Posted April 27, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2013 That is a very unusual piece. There is a lot of etching in the track work, and the marble is such a nice change for old howitzer shells. It is a real winner!
zotig111 Posted April 29, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 29, 2013 Nice find. I wonder if the marble piece was from something/somewhere significant...

Mr.Jerry Posted April 29, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 29, 2013 Italy is where much of the worlds marble comes from, so you tend to see a lot of 5th army 15th AAF souvanir pieces done in marble. But this is the first TD piece i have seen and very cool and well done at that!
