Brig Posted April 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2013 I have a uniform from Korea in need of some chevrons. The Muster roll has him going from a Master Tech Sgt, to 2nd LT, to 1st Lt, and finally to just a 'Chief Warrant Officer'. What rank would be correct for this at this period? Any images. It doesn't say CWO2,3,4,5...just CWO
Justin B. Posted April 27, 2013 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2013 There were only two warrant ranks till 1954. WO was W-1 and the W-2, 3 and 4 grades were all the same rank, CWO. CWOs wore gold bars like a 2LT but with a red band across the center. WOs were similar but the red band was half the width as on the CWO bar. Justin B. Brig Posted April 29, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted April 29, 2013 I see a 1950 entry that states CWO4
Brig Posted April 29, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted April 29, 2013 WO or CWO?
Justin B. Posted April 29, 2013 Share #5 Posted April 29, 2013 I see a 1950 entry that states CWO4 The four pay grades of WO were created by the Career Compensation Act of 1949, but there were only two ranks and two insignia; CWO covered the top three pay grades. In 1954 the Warrant Officer Act made each pay grade a separate rank and the silver/gold and red bars were adopted. WO or CWO? Those are WO. The red part for CWO was twice as wide. Justin B.
