capa Posted April 22, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2013 Hello All, My second pattern M-1955 USMC flak vest has a small tear in the nylon fabric on the back. I'd like to stabilize the tear so it doesn't get bigger and would appreciate some advice. I only wear it a couple of times a year. I was thinking of just stitching it but thought if there was some sort of patching material that I could put inside and either sew or iron the fabric around the tear that might work. Suggestions? Thanks! Capa

TRR Posted May 5, 2013 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2013 Being its something you wear, I would just put a piece of nylon behind it and glue it. The jackets we used in training when I was a private where repaired in the same way. Stitching will just tear at this point.
