Josh B. Posted April 19, 2013 Share #1 Posted April 19, 2013 I've had this for a little while now, and as a collector with a strong submarine focus, it's become one of my favorites. This model paperweight comes up for sale from time to time, and I've even seen the metal part mounted as part of an elaborate ashtray. The name of a sub is generally hand engraved on these; this one is especially nice because you rarely see them traceable to a serviceman. Shown is one named to a GM2/C who was a plankowner on the Hardhead and stayed aboard post-war until late '45. The model itself is likely chromed brass, the deck gun swivels and is made of black-painted brass. Josh

RustyCanteen Posted April 19, 2013 Share #3 Posted April 19, 2013 That's very nice! Having the ID on the owner really does set it apart. Thanks for posting it.

navyman Posted April 19, 2013 Share #6 Posted April 19, 2013 Josh, Very nice, you just don't see these items turn up that much. Jason
Josh B. Posted October 4, 2013 Author Share #7 Posted October 4, 2013 Another example, but from the Gurnard. I'm pretty sure at this point that the desk models of this design were made in Australia. This example commemorates shore leave at Perth.
