AirMechanic Posted April 15, 2013 #1 Posted April 15, 2013 I believe this is a USCG patch, but I am not sure. It's about 1 1/2" in diameter. Is this a uniform patch? Is it from WWII? Thanks!
1SG_1st_Cav Posted April 15, 2013 #3 Posted April 15, 2013 It looks like a Sea Scouts or Boy Scouts badge. Danny
firefighter Posted April 15, 2013 #4 Posted April 15, 2013 It looks like a Sea Scouts or Boy Scouts badge. Danny I agree.Either a Sea Scout or merit badge.
Garth Thompson Posted April 16, 2013 #5 Posted April 16, 2013 I don't agree. Every Sea Scout insignia or badge I have ever seen incorporates a single vertical anchor with a Fleur de Lee and eagle with the scout motto BE PREPARED. The patch in this posting is a cloth version of the WW2 era Coast Guard Auxiliary collar insignia most commonly seen in metal. Garth
lamarhooten Posted April 16, 2013 #6 Posted April 16, 2013 This is not Sea Scout related. Had a chance meeting with a well connected 'Officer' of the CAP and local Sea Scouts from the Portland OR area yesterday. After he saw a pic of the patch, he said no on Sea Scouts. He has be with the group from the late 40s until now. Hope this helps!
vostoktrading Posted April 16, 2013 #7 Posted April 16, 2013 Like Garth said. Here's the official emblem.
firefighter Posted April 16, 2013 #8 Posted April 16, 2013 Like Garth said. Here's the official emblem. Thats cool.Is it a cap or cuff mark?
Garth Thompson Posted April 17, 2013 #10 Posted April 17, 2013 Wild Guess: cap emblem for OCS? Coast Guard OCS uses the standard naval midshipman anchor and has for a long time.
